Dynamo Diesel
About Diesel
Since his birth on April 4, 2007, Dynamo Diesel has become one of the most recognizable symbols of professional sports in Houston. After winning MLS Cup 2006, Houston Dynamo started searching for something that could represent the team both on and off the field. The Dynamo front office turned to the students of the Art Institute for ideas. Several finalists were selected and the decision was left up to the fans in a vote. The winning design, created by Eric Hulsey and Leslie Lopez, was of an orange haired fox. "Dynamo Diesel," as he would be called, represented the witty and sly style of play the team displayed on the field every game. He would become the official mascot of the newest sports franchise in the city. The fox was an instant hit to the public when he was unveiled at the Houston Zoo in April. Immediately, Diesel began to work alongside the Houston Dynamo marketing and community outreach programs. He is not only present at games, cheering on the team, but also joins the Dynamo Girls to help promote the organization to the city. Want to see Diesel at one of you upcoming events?
