About Houston Dynamo

The Houston Dynamo, a Major League soccer club, will enter its third season of play in 2008. The Dynamo will compete in the league’s Western Conference with Chivas USA, the Colorado Rapids, FC Dallas, the Los Angeles Galaxy, Real Salt Lake and the San Jose Earthquakes. The league’s Eastern Conference includes the Chicago Fire, the Columbus Crew, D.C. United, the Kansas City Wizards, the New England Revolution, the New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC.

The franchise – including players and coaches – moved to Houston from San Jose, Calif., in December 2005, and the Dynamo played their first game April 2, 2006.

The Dynamo had immediate success, becoming the second team in league history to capture back-to-back championships by winning the MLS Cup in 2006 and 2007. The team also averaged almost 19,000 fans per home game during the 2006 regular season and hosted three consecutive crowds of greater than 30,000 in 2007, including two playoff games.

The team is owned by the Anschutz Entertainment Group, along with equity partners Oscar De La Hoya and the Brener International Group, and plays its home games at Robertson Stadium on the campus of the University of Houston.
