Fire pour it on NY, clinch home field
Led by Chris Rolfe's first-half hat trick, the Chicago Fire rolled over the New York Red Bulls, 5-2, on Thursday night at rainy Toyota Park. With the victory, the Fire have earned the right to home-field advantage in their first round playoff matchup vs. longtime nemesis New England.

McBride punches Fire's playoff ticket
Facing his former team, Brian McBride took it upon himself Sunday to help the Chicago Fire earn a playoff spot, scoring both Fire goals in a 2-2 draw with overall MLS leaders Columbus. McBride put the Fire on the board in the 13th minute, then notched the equalizer in the 79th minute.

Rolfe fans flames as Fire stall Galaxy
Having lost three of their past four matches, the Chicago Fire came into their Thursday night clash with the LA Galaxy in a surprising slump. However, thanks to two Chris Rolfe goals sandwiched around a Cuauhtemoc Blanco strike, the Fire broke out with a much-needed 3-1 win.

Fire surrender Brimstone Cup to FCD
The Chicago Fire lost their bid to capture the Brimstone Cup Sunday, falling to FC Dallas for the second time this season, 4-1. The vaunted Fire defense had an off day, surrendering four goals to the Hoops before Brian McBride scored his second goal for the Fire in extra time. , extended their lead over the Red Bulls and pulled Chicago into a second-place tie with the Revolution in the tight Eastern Conference playoff race.

An 82nd-minute goal by Bobby Boswell gave the visiting Houston Dynamo a surprising 2-1 win against the Chicago Fire at Toyota Park on Saturday evening. Playing through a driving spring rain for most of the game, the Fire lost for only the second time in the season, and both have come at Toyota Park.

Thorrington tags two goals in Fire win
After losing for the first time this season a week ago, the Chicago Fire secured a bounce-back win against the Colorado Rapids at TOYOTA Park. The Fire's John Thorrington scored two goals in the second half to negate a late score from Colorado's Tom McManus and seal a 2-1 win.

Although Chicago managed 19 shots on goal vs. Kansas City, they could not score. The Fire also lost a chance to secure first place in the East. Instead, that honor goes to the Wizards, who won on Jack Jewsbury's early goal which held up for a 1-0 Kansas City victory.
