NAME: Daryl Shore POSITION: Assistant Coach |
Daryl Shore returns to the Chicago Fire for his eighth season after joining as the team's first full-time goalkeeper coach in 2000. Born on January 6, 1970 in Peekskill, New York, Shore attended Birmingham-Southern College and started for four years at goalkeeper. He was named to the NAIA All-American Team twice following his sophomore and senior seasons. After graduating in 1993 from Birmingham Southern - five years prior to his induction in the school's Hall of Fame in 1998 - Shore began his coaching career as an assistant at his alma mater for two years. During that time, Shore also played for the USISL's Birmingham Grasshoppers, with who he enjoyed a standout 1994 season that included him earning the USISL's Mid-South Goalkeeper of the Year award and a nod to the USISL All-Star Game, in which he played alongside current Fire member Chris Armas.
Shore would leave Birmingham in 1995 to join the USL A-League's New Orleans Riverboat Gamblers, where he served double duty as the team's goalkeeper and assistant coach. Shore would earn promotion to New Orleans' head coaching position in 1998 and lead the team to the postseason in his first year at the helm. Shore would join the A-League's Lehigh Valley Steam the following year and took the expansion team to the A-League playoffs during his first season before leaving Pennsylvania to join the Fire. Shore has also earned his USSF "A" license.
Shore and his wife Clare reside in Elmhurst with her children Andrew, Brandon, and Audrey.
