FCD Reserves tie Galaxy Reserves
Los Angeles had the first real chance of the game in the 12th minute as Alan Gordon's volley off a deflected Josh Tudela corner kick hit the post and was cleared to safety. Gordon had another opportunity just a minute later as he was fed through for a one-on-one with FCD keeper Mike Graczyk, who made a sliding save to deny the Galaxy forward's shot.
FCD opened the scoring seconds later as left-sided defender Chase Wileman sent a ball across the field to Bobby Rhine, who one-touched a ball through to Ricardinho. Ricardinho received the pass in stride and calmly poked the ball past an onrushing LA goalkeeper Josh Wicks to give FC Dallas a one goal lead. The goal was Ricardinho's first in Reserve Division play this season.
It was again Ricardinho with a scoring opportunity in the 27th minute as he received a ball from Blake Wagner near midfield, sped between two defenders and curled a low left-footed shot which was saved well by Wicks.
It was the Galaxy who came out the better team after halftime and were rewarded with a 52nd minute goal from Bryan Jordan. Ely Allen quickly latched on to a clearance from Wicks and passed to Israel Sesay in the middle. Sesay then returned the ball to an overlapping Allen, who crossed the ball in to Jordan for an easy tap in to tie the game.
Sesay was instrumental in putting the Galaxy in front in the 64th minute. His hard work on the left side created an opportunity to cross the ball to Alan Gordon, who headed the ball off the right post for his fourth Reserve Division goal of the year.
The Galaxy were put a man down in the 85th minute as substitute Alvaro Pires was ejected in an altercation with Bobby Rhine. Pires was whistled for a foul on the Dallas defender and was sent off for a slap to the face of Rhine in the ensuing altercation. Rhine also received a yellow card.
After the ejection, Dallas pushed hard for the tying goal and earned it just seconds before the final whistle. Midfielder Marcelo Saragosa played a ball to Dello-Russo near the right touchline. Dello-Russo then dribbled toward the center of the field on his left foot, beating a defender before switching back to his right to lash a hard shot just inside the penalty area into the upper left corner past Wicks.
The draw brings FC Dallas' record to 2-1-2 (8 pts.), while LA is now 0-3-2 (2 pts.) in Reserve Dvision play. FC Dallas next faces Real Salt Lake on Wednesday, August 6 in Frisco. Los Angeles returns to the field next Sunday afternoon, August 3, at San Jose.
