Instead, a series of injuries and unfortunate circumstances has led to a 5-6-5 record (20 pts.).

Buddle scored his 11th goal of the year (which ties his career-high, in addition to the MLS lead with teammate Donovan) in that match. The Galaxy are winless in their last four, and for the first time in over a month, have dropped out of first place.
For the Red Bulls, Beckham's presence in New York has been overshadowed by Claudio Reyna's retirement from the game of soccer - at least from putting on his boots. At his retirement press conference on Wednesday, in which MLS Commissioner Don Garber was in attendance, such words as "ambassador" and "character" were used to describe what Reyna's presence has meant to U.S. Soccer and the Red Bulls organization. Reyna and the Red Bulls front office are committed to continuing a relationship in which he will be involved in some capacity.
